an end of game tradition

hey appleheads,

i just thought i'd share a tradition that my friends and i started when we play apples to apples. after the game is over, we go around in a circle and each read our green/adjective cards as if they describe us. sometimes it's quite humorous. for example: "i am clueless, addictive, spooky, and shiny!" just a little geeky but fun addition to the game! try it!

Large group play

The department I work with at my employer has 10 people. We recently went on an offsite trip and did some casual team building activities. I brought my A2A (including expansion packs 1 and 2) and we ended up all playing for nearly two hours of laughter and camaradarie.

I wasn't sure if we could play with that many people, but I think it helped that we were already familiar with each other to at least some degree (some much more than others), and just about everyone really got into the competitiveness, despite the subjectiveness of the game.

Anyone else experience a successful play of A2A with a large group?

My son got this game for X-Mas the year before last. We are looking for other people who would enjoy getting together once in awhile to play. Maybe we could all meet somewhere for pizza and a game...?

Wow, you all like Apples-to-Apples, too? Wanna join our group -- the Apple Dumpling Gang? Although we don't just allow anybody in (we certainly don't want any bad apples in the group) -- long form to fill out (obviously, it's standard across everyone for apples-to-apples comparisons). We usually meet at my place -- the Apples-to-Apples Headquarters, or "Apple Core," if you will.

We were playing last night and it was hilarity. Great story, the green apple was "Unscrupulous" and someone played "Brad Pitt." Ha. I bet you think I made that up, but it's a true story. Honest. It didn't win, because we have a lot of great players at the game (watch out for those Garvey sisters!), but it was still a moment of pure Apples-to-Apples genius.

game variations

I just learned to play Apples to Apples as a drinking game!

Instead of dumping the card of the player who last throws down a red card, the player who is last must take a drink! Also, the winner of the green card gets to assign a drink to whoever they want.

Ummmmmmm, I don't remember exactly if there is any special way to end the game with this variation. =)
